SAFETY SCORES MATTER IN 2025

KEEP YOURS IN GOOD STANDING WITH THE SCP

Brokers, shippers and insurance agencies have insight into your safety scores and use them to determine freight rates and insurance premiums.

The U.S. DOT uses these scores to select motor carriers for Compliance Reviews (Audits).

SCP Program aims to keep your Safety Scores in good standing. To safeguard your safety scores enroll in the SCP Program in 2025.

IMPORTANCE OF THE SCP PROGRAM

The Safety Compliance Program offered by Federal Applications Processor is a program designed to help motor carriers track their FMCSA safety scores.

Safety scores track the number, type, and severity of violations received by drivers while on the road during the course of their duties.

SAFETY MANAGEMENT CONTROLS AS REQUIRED PER FEDERAL MOTOR
CARRIER SAFETY ADMINISTRATION OF THE U.S DOT.

▶ The FMCSA tracks safety scores using the Safety Management System, which indicates if a motor carrier is likely to receive a safety audit or compliance review based on the safety scores of a carrier. The Safety Compliance Program tracks safety scores for motor carriers, and informs carriers if there has been a change in safety scores, and if those scores indicate an increased likelihood of an audit or compliance review.

▶ Because safety scores affect insurance rates and brokerage rates, companies with poor safety scores will find it increasingly difficult to obtain loads, and will find their insurance rates increasing drastically.

▶ Enrolling in the safety compliance program will allows motor carriers to track their safety scores, and discover areas of safety compliance in which they can improve, thus improving safety scores.
